Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Tallahassee, Florida, is a city steeped in rich history and culture. Originally inhabited by the Apalachee and Seminole Native American tribes, the area was first settled by Spanish explorers in the 16th century. In the 1820s, Tallahassee was chosen as the capital of Florida, due to its central location between the major cities of Pensacola and St. Augustine. During the Civil War, Tallahassee served as an important Confederate stronghold and was the site of several key battles. Following the war, the city experienced rapid growth and development, becoming a hub for education, government, and commerce in the region. Today, Tallahassee is home to several prestigious universities, including Florida State University and Florida A&M University. The city is known for its beautiful parks, historic architecture, and vibrant arts scene. Tallahassee continues to attract visitors from around the world with its unique blend of history and modern amenities.
