Tallahassee, Florida has a rich history dating back thousands of years. The area was originally inhabited by the Apalachee and Seminole Native American tribes. In the 16th century, Spanish explorers arrived in the region, followed by French and British settlers. In 1824, Tallahassee was chosen as the capital of Florida due to its central location and high elevation. The city quickly grew and became an important political and cultural center in the state. In the 20th century, Tallahassee continued to expand and modernize, becoming home to Florida State University and Florida A&M University.
