Welcome to the Newto News for April of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Stillwater, Oklahoma was first settled in 1884 as a small frontier town by a group of pioneers looking to establish a community in the newly opened Indian Territory. The town quickly grew as more settlers arrived, drawn by the promise of abundant land and opportunities for farming and ranching. In 1890, Stillwater was officially incorporated as a city and became the home of Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Oklahoma State University). The presence of the college helped fuel the city’s growth and development, attracting students, faculty, and research opportunities. Over the years, Stillwater has continued to grow and prosper, becoming a thriving community with a diverse economy that includes agriculture, education, healthcare, and technology. The city is known for its vibrant downtown area, historic neighborhoods, and strong sense of community pride. Today, Stillwater remains a bustling city with a rich history and a promising future ahead.
