Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Santa Rosa, California was founded in the early 19th century as a small agricultural community. The city’s first settlers were Spanish explorers who arrived in the area in the late 1700s. However, it wasn’t until the mid-1800s that Santa Rosa began to thrive, thanks to the Gold Rush bringing an influx of settlers to the area. In the late 1800s, Santa Rosa experienced a period of rapid growth, with the establishment of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad connecting the city to the rest of California. This sparked further development, as industries and businesses began to flourish in the area. Throughout the 20th century, Santa Rosa continued to grow and evolve, becoming a hub for wine production and tourism in the region. The city also saw significant advancements in healthcare, with the establishment of several hospitals and medical facilities. Today, Santa Rosa is known for its beautiful scenery, vibrant arts and culture scene, and strong sense of community. With a rich history and continued growth, Santa Rosa remains a thriving city in Northern California.
