Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Norman, Oklahoma was founded in 1889 during the Land Run by settlers looking to stake their claim in the new Oklahoma Territory. Named after Abner Norman, a local surveyor, the city quickly grew as people flocked to the area for its fertile land and opportunities for farming and ranching. In the early 20th century, the discovery of oil in the region brought further prosperity to Norman, leading to the establishment of the University of Oklahoma in 1890. The university has since become a cornerstone of the city, attracting students and academics from around the country. Norman has also become known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, with museums, galleries, and theaters showcasing the talents of local artists and performers. Today, Norman is a thriving community with a diverse economy, strong educational institutions, and a rich history that is celebrated and preserved by its residents.
