Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

New Haven, Connecticut was founded in 1638 by English Puritans led by John Davenport and Theophilus Eaton. The settlers established a thriving agricultural and trading community along the Quinnipiac River, which later became known as New Haven Harbor. In the 18th and 19th centuries, New Haven grew into a major port city and industrial center, with a strong economy based on shipbuilding, manufacturing, and trade. The city became known for its vibrant cultural scene, including Yale University, founded in 1701. During the American Revolution, New Haven played a significant role in the war effort, serving as a military supply depot and staging area for troops. The city also became a hotbed of abolitionist activity in the years leading up to the Civil War. Today, New Haven is a diverse and dynamic city with a strong commitment to education, the arts, and sustainability. It continues to be a center of innovation and progress in the Northeast region.
