Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Nags Head, North Carolina, located on the Outer Banks, has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The town got its name from the practice of locals tying lanterns to the necks of horses to lead ships safely to shore through the treacherous waters. Originally a small fishing village, Nags Head quickly became a popular beach destination in the late 19th century when tourists began flocking to the area for its pristine beaches and excellent fishing opportunities. In the early 20th century, the town saw a boom in development with the construction of beachfront cottages and the opening of hotels and restaurants along the beach. Today, Nags Head is a thriving tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, and historic landmarks. Visitors can explore the iconic Bodie Island Lighthouse, enjoy water sports like surfing and fishing, or simply relax on the sandy shores of this charming coastal town.
