Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Manchester, New Hampshire, originally known as Derryfield, was settled in 1722 by Scottish-Irish immigrants. It quickly grew into a thriving mill town due to its prime location along the Merrimack River, which provided power for the textile industry. In 1810, the town was officially incorporated as Manchester, named after the industrial city in England. Throughout the 19th century, Manchester saw rapid industrialization with the establishment of numerous textile mills, which attracted a large influx of immigrants seeking work. The city’s population grew exponentially, and it soon became known as the “Queen City” of New Hampshire. During the 20th century, Manchester diversified its economy, expanding into industries such as technology, healthcare, and finance. Today, Manchester is a vibrant and diverse city with a rich history of industry and innovation. It is home to numerous cultural attractions, educational institutions, and a strong sense of community pride.
