Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Los Angeles, California, known as the “City of Angels,” has a rich history dating back to the indigenous Tongva people who originally inhabited the area. In 1781, the Spanish settled in the region, establishing a new pueblo which eventually grew into the city of Los Angeles. The city became part of Mexico in 1821 and then the United States in 1848 following the Mexican-American War. In the late 19th century, Los Angeles experienced a population boom due to the completion of the transcontinental railroad and the discovery of oil in the area. The early 20th century saw the rise of the entertainment industry in Hollywood, solidifying Los Angeles as a major cultural center. Throughout the 20th century, Los Angeles continued to grow and diversify, becoming a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. Today, it is known for its thriving arts and culture scene, beautiful beaches, and diverse population, making it one of the most vibrant cities in the United States.
