Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Lincoln, Nebraska was founded in 1856 as the village of Lancaster, named after the county in which it was located. The city’s name was changed to Lincoln in 1867 in honor of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. During the late 19th century, Lincoln experienced rapid growth due to its location as a major railroad hub and the state capital of Nebraska. The University of Nebraska was established in 1869, further solidifying Lincoln’s status as a center for education and culture in the region. Throughout the 20th century, Lincoln continued to grow and develop into a bustling midwestern city with a diverse economy including agriculture, manufacturing, and technology industries. Today, Lincoln is known for its vibrant arts and music scene, thriving downtown area, and strong sense of community pride. It remains a hub of activity and innovation in the heart of the Great Plains.
