Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Laredo, Texas was founded in 1755 by Don Tomás Sánchez, a Spanish captain, in an effort to establish a settlement along the Rio Grande. The town quickly grew in size and importance due to its location as a major trading hub between Mexico and the United States. In the 19th century, Laredo played a significant role in the Texas Revolution, acting as a key supply point for Mexican troops. After the Mexican-American War, Laredo became part of the United States and continued to prosper as a center for cattle ranching and trade. The city experienced a boom in the early 20th century with the introduction of the railroad, which further facilitated commerce and industry. Today, Laredo is a bustling border town known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and strong ties to both Mexican and American heritage. The city continues to thrive as a major transportation and trade hub, attracting visitors from all over the world.
