Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Greensboro, North Carolina was founded in 1808 and named after Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene. Initially settled as a small village, Greensboro quickly grew into a thriving city thanks to its strategic location on the railway lines connecting Charlotte and Raleigh. During the Civil War, Greensboro served as a major hub for Confederate troops and supplies. Following the war, the city experienced significant industrial growth, becoming a center for textiles, tobacco, and furniture manufacturing. In the 1960s, Greensboro played a key role in the civil rights movement, with the famous sit-in protests at the Woolworth’s lunch counter bringing national attention to the fight against segregation. Today, Greensboro is a diverse and vibrant city known for its arts scene, historic architecture, and Southern hospitality. With numerous parks, museums, and cultural attractions, Greensboro continues to attract visitors from around the country.
