Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Green Bay, Wisconsin was first inhabited by the Menominee and Ho-Chunk Native American tribes. French fur traders arrived in the area in the 1600s, establishing a trading post at the mouth of the bay in 1634. The area became known as La Baye, and was a key trading post for the fur trade. In the early 19th century, the area saw an influx of European immigrants, primarily Irish, German, and Belgian, who settled in the region and helped establish the town of Green Bay in 1838. The town quickly grew into a thriving community, with industries like lumber, paper mills, and shipping driving its economy. Green Bay became known as the “Paper City” due to its numerous paper mills, which were a major source of employment in the region. In 1919, the Green Bay Packers football team was founded, becoming a source of pride and identity for the city. Today, Green Bay is a bustling city known for its historic neighborhoods, beautiful waterfront, and strong sense of community.
