Welcome to the Newto News for May of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins, Colorado has a rich history that dates back to the mid-19th century. Established as a military outpost in 1864 during the Indian Wars, Fort Collins was named after Colonel William Collins, the commander of the camp. The settlement quickly grew as a hub for pioneers, traders, and ranchers traveling along the Overland Trail. In the late 19th century, Fort Collins became known for its thriving agriculture industry, particularly in sugar beet production. The city also became home to Colorado Agricultural College, which would later become Colorado State University. Throughout the 20th century, Fort Collins continued to grow and develop, becoming a vibrant community known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, craft breweries, and cultural attractions. Today, Fort Collins is a bustling city with a rich history and a bright future.
