Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fort Collins, Colorado, was founded in 1864 as a military outpost during the Indian wars. The city was named after Colonel William Collins, who led the troops stationed there. Over the years, Fort Collins grew as a hub for trading and cattle ranching, as well as a stop along the Colorado Central Railroad. In the late 19th century, Fort Collins saw a population boom due to its thriving agricultural industry and its designation as the county seat of Larimer County. In the early 20th century, Fort Collins became known for its sugar beet industry, with several sugar beet processing plants operating in the area. The city also became home to Colorado State University in 1870, which has since become a major institution in the city. Today, Fort Collins is a vibrant city known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, craft beer scene, and commitment to sustainability. With a population of over 165,000 residents, Fort Collins continues to be a thriving community with a rich history.
