Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fayetteville, North Carolina, was founded in 1762 and named in honor of Marquis de Lafayette, a French military hero who fought alongside American troops during the Revolutionary War. Located in the southeastern part of the state, Fayetteville quickly grew into a bustling town due to its strategic location along the Cape Fear River. During the Civil War, Fayetteville served as an important Confederate supply depot and saw several skirmishes and battles, including the Battle of Fayetteville in 1865. After the war, the city experienced rapid industrial and economic growth, becoming known for its textile and lumber industries. In the 20th century, Fayetteville became home to Fort Bragg, one of the largest military installations in the country, which further boosted the city’s economy and population. Today, Fayetteville is a diverse and thriving community, known for its historic downtown area, military presence, and strong sense of patriotism.
