Denver, Colorado was founded in 1858 as a gold mining town during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. Named after Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver, the city quickly grew in population as miners flocked to the area in search of fortune. By the late 1800s, Denver had evolved into a bustling frontier town with a diverse economy driven by mining, agriculture, and transportation. In the early 20th century, Denver experienced a period of rapid growth and urban development, becoming known as the “Queen City of the Plains.” The city became a major hub for railroads, leading to further expansion and the establishment of prominent cultural institutions such as the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Mint. Today, Denver is a vibrant metropolis known for its outdoor recreational opportunities, thriving arts scene, and progressive culture. With a population of over 700,000 residents, Denver continues to attract newcomers seeking a high quality of life in the scenic Rocky Mountains.
