Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Denver, Colorado was founded in 1858 as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Originally named Montana City, the settlement quickly grew as prospectors flocked to the area in search of fortune. In 1863, the city was officially named Denver after Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver. The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1870 further fueled Denver’s growth as a hub for transportation and trade. The city became known as the “Queen City of the Plains” and experienced a population boom as more people migrated to the area seeking opportunities in mining, agriculture, and commerce. Throughout the 20th century, Denver continued to thrive as a major metropolitan center, attracting businesses, cultural institutions, and a diverse population. Today, Denver is known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, outdoor recreation opportunities, and booming economy. With a rich history rooted in the frontier spirit of the American West, Denver remains a dynamic and thriving city.
