Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Daytona Beach, Florida was originally inhabited by the Timucuan Indians before Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century. The area was eventually settled by British colonists in the 18th century, and by the early 19th century, it had become a popular destination for wealthy vacationers seeking the warm weather and beautiful beaches. The city’s growth and development received a significant boost in the late 19th century with the arrival of the railroad, making it easier for tourists to visit. Daytona Beach became known for its annual speed trials and automobile races on its hard-packed sandy beaches, eventually leading to the construction of the Daytona International Speedway in 1959. Today, Daytona Beach is a thriving city known for its tourism industry, with millions of visitors flocking to its beaches, attractions, and events each year. It also boasts a rich cultural heritage, with numerous museums, art galleries, and historic sites showcasing its past.
