Boise, Idaho, known as the “City of Trees,” has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. Originally inhabited by the Shoshone and Bannock Native American tribes, the area was later explored by Lewis and Clark in 1805. Boise was officially founded in 1863 during the gold rush, quickly becoming a major supply and trading center for miners and settlers heading west. The city experienced rapid growth with the arrival of the Oregon Trail and the completion of the transcontinental railroad in the late 19th century. Boise became the capital of Idaho in 1864, solidifying its role as an important political and cultural hub for the state. Over the years, Boise has continued to thrive, evolving into a vibrant city known for its outdoor recreation, thriving arts scene, and booming technology industry. The city’s historic downtown district, with its mix of Victorian and art deco architecture, serves as a reminder of Boise’s rich past while also embracing its modern identity as a dynamic and innovative urban center.
