Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Aurora, Colorado was founded in the late 1800s as a small town situated on the outskirts of Denver. Originally named Fletcher, the town quickly grew in population due to its proximity to the booming mining industry in the nearby mountains. As more settlers arrived, the town was renamed Aurora in 1907 after the Roman goddess of the dawn. During the early 20th century, Aurora became known for its agricultural industry, particularly in the production of sugar beets and livestock. The establishment of military bases in the area during World War II also brought an influx of residents and further stimulated the local economy. In the decades that followed, Aurora continued to grow and diversify, becoming a major suburb of the Denver metropolitan area. Today, the city is a vibrant and culturally diverse community with a strong economy driven by industries such as healthcare, technology, and aerospace. Its rich history and unique blend of urban and natural landscapes make Aurora a popular destination for both residents and visitors alike.
