Welcome to the Newto News for December of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Originally inhabited by the Lenni-Lenape Native American tribe, Atlantic City, New Jersey was founded in 1854 by developers and businessmen looking to capitalize on its prime location along the Atlantic Ocean. The city quickly became a popular resort destination, known for its beautiful beaches, bustling boardwalk, and luxurious hotels. In the early 20th century, Atlantic City was a hub of entertainment, with famous figures like Al Capone and Marilyn Monroe frequenting its casinos and nightclubs. The city was also home to the Miss America pageant from 1921 to 2004. However, Atlantic City faced economic struggles in the latter half of the 20th century, as competition from other gambling destinations like Las Vegas and the rise of online gaming caused a decline in tourism. In recent years, the city has worked to revitalize its image and economy through new developments, entertainment options, and a focus on its historical charm.
