Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has a rich history deeply rooted in its origins as two separate towns. The town of Winston was established in 1849 as a planned community for the Moravian Church, known for its industrious and disciplined way of life. Salem, founded in 1766, was also settled by Moravians and quickly became a hub for trade and commerce in the region.
