Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2024. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Washington, District of Columbia, commonly known as Washington D.C., was founded in 1791 as the capital of the newly formed United States of America. The city was planned and designed by French architect Pierre Charles L’Enfant, with its layout featuring wide avenues and open spaces. Washington D.C. officially became the capital in 1800, and it quickly grew into a major political and cultural hub. The city played a crucial role in American history, serving as the backdrop for important events such as the Civil War and the civil rights movement. Throughout its history, Washington D.C. has been home to many iconic landmarks, including the White House, the Capitol Building, and the Washington Monument. The city has also been a center of intellectual and cultural activity, with numerous museums, galleries, and theaters attracting visitors from around the world. Today, Washington D.C. continues to be a vibrant and diverse city, embodying the principles of democracy and freedom upon which the United States was founded.

The two-level Anju has a double life: Downstairs, it’s a Seoul-style pub scene with a bar and a few high top tables and stools for walk-in diners. Upstairs, the dining room almost feels like you’ve been dropped into a homey-yet-stylish Adams Morgan apartment.
