Tucson, Arizona, located in the Sonoran Desert, has a rich history dating back over 4,000 years. Originally inhabited by the Hohokam people, the area was later settled by the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui tribes. In the 16th century, Spanish missionaries arrived in the region, establishing missions and bringing European influence to the area. Tucson officially became a part of the United States in 1854 as a result of the Gadsden Purchase.
