Princeton, New Jersey, has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1675 by Quaker settlers. Initially known as Stony Brook, the town was renamed Princeton in 1756 in honor of the Prince of Wales, later King George II. Princeton gained prominence during the American Revolutionary War when it served as the location for the Battle of Princeton in 1777, a decisive victory for the Continental Army. In 1746, the College of New Jersey was established in Princeton, which later became Princeton University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the United States. The university has been a cornerstone of the community, attracting students, scholars, and visitors from around the world. In addition to its academic significance, Princeton is also known for its historic architecture, charming downtown area, and vibrant arts and culture scene. Today, Princeton continues to be a thriving community that celebrates its past while embracing the future.
