Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Orlando, Florida, was originally inhabited by Native American tribes such as the Seminole and Creek. The city’s name can be traced back to a soldier named Orlando Reeves who reportedly died during the Second Seminole War. In the late 19th century, Orlando began to develop as a hub for citrus farming and cattle ranching. The city experienced rapid growth in the early 20th century with the arrival of the railroad and the establishment of Lake Eola Park. During World War II, Orlando became home to several military bases and played a key role in the war effort. In the late 20th century, Orlando transformed into a major tourist destination with the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971. Today, the city is known for its theme parks, including Universal Studios and SeaWorld, as well as its vibrant arts and culture scene. Orlando continues to attract visitors from around the world and remains a hub of entertainment and innovation in central Florida.
