Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has a rich history that dates back to the early 18th century. The area was originally inhabited by the Waccamaw and Winyah Native American tribes before European settlers arrived in the late 17th century. The city was named after the indigenous sweet myrtle shrubs that grew abundantly in the area. In the 1920s, Myrtle Beach began to develop as a tourist destination, with the construction of hotels and resorts along the beachfront. The city’s popularity grew during the mid-20th century, attracting visitors from across the country with its beautiful beaches and warm climate. Today, Myrtle Beach is known for its vibrant boardwalk, numerous golf courses, and bustling entertainment scene. The city continues to be a popular vacation spot for families and young adults alike, offering a mix of relaxation and excitement for all who visit.
