Welcome to the Newto News for September of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Milwaukee, Wisconsin was founded in 1846 by Solomon Juneau, Jacques Vieau, and George H. Walker. Originally a trading post for fur traders and Native American tribes, Milwaukee quickly grew into a bustling city due to its prime location on the shores of Lake Michigan. The city became known for its brewing industry, with breweries such as Pabst, Schlitz, and Miller establishing themselves in the area. Milwaukee also became a hub for manufacturing, particularly in the production of machinery, beer, and leather goods. The city experienced rapid growth and prosperity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, attracting immigrants from Germany, Poland, and other European countries. Today, Milwaukee is known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, diverse population, and beautiful lakefront. The city is home to numerous festivals, museums, and professional sports teams, making it a popular destination for both tourists and residents alike.
