Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Los Angeles, California, also known as the City of Angels, has a rich and diverse history that dates back to the indigenous Tongva and Chumash tribes who originally inhabited the area. The Spanish settlers arrived in 1769 and established the pueblo of El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles, which would later become the city of Los Angeles. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Los Angeles experienced rapid growth due to the discovery of oil and the expansion of the railroad system. The city became a major center for film production in the early 1900s, earning the nickname “Hollywood” and solidifying its reputation as the entertainment capital of the world. Today, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis with a diverse population and a vibrant cultural scene. It is home to numerous iconic landmarks such as the Hollywood Sign, the Getty Center, and the Griffith Observatory, making it a popular destination for tourists from around the globe.
