Long Beach, California has a rich and diverse history that dates back to the indigenous Tongva people who originally inhabited the area. Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century, followed by the Mexican government’s rule after gaining independence from Spain in the early 19th century. In 1843, Rancho Los Cerritos was established, becoming a hub for cattle ranching and agriculture.
