Welcome to the Newto News for January of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Little Rock, Arkansas was founded in 1812 as a small settlement along the Arkansas River. The city quickly grew in importance as a hub for trade and transportation due to its strategic location. In 1821, Little Rock became the capital of the newly formed state of Arkansas. Throughout its history, Little Rock has played a significant role in key events such as the Civil War, with the city being occupied by both Union and Confederate forces at different times. It also gained national attention during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly with the integration of Central High School in 1957. Today, Little Rock is a thriving city with a diverse economy centered around government, healthcare, transportation, and education.
