Lexington, Kentucky was founded in 1775 by a group of frontiersmen led by Colonel Robert Patterson. Located in the heart of the Bluegrass Region, the city quickly grew into a prosperous center of trade and commerce due to its fertile soil and strategic location along the Wilderness Road. In 1780, Lexington was named the seat of Fayette County and became an important hub for pioneers heading westward.
