Welcome to the Newto News for September of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Las Vegas, Nevada, originally inhabited by the Southern Paiute tribe, became a prominent city in the early 20th century. Founded in 1905, the city quickly grew into a popular railroad town due to its strategic location, serving as a stopover for travelers heading to California. However, it wasn’t until the 1930s that Las Vegas truly came into its own with the legalization of gambling. The construction of the Hoover Dam brought in a wave of workers and tourists looking to try their luck in the city’s numerous casinos and entertainment venues. The infamous mob presence in the 1940s and 1950s further solidified Las Vegas as the entertainment capital of the world. Today, Las Vegas is known for its vibrant nightlife, world-class entertainment, and luxurious resorts. It continues to attract millions of visitors each year and has become a cultural icon synonymous with extravagance and excess.
