Welcome to the Newto News for May of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Green Bay, Wisconsin, originally inhabited by the Menominee, Ho-Chunk, and Ojibwe tribes, has a rich history that dates back over a thousand years. French fur traders arrived in the area in the 17th century, establishing a trading post and fort. The city’s name, Green Bay, comes from the French term “La Baie Verte” which translates to “The Green Bay.” In the 19th century, Green Bay became a bustling industrial hub, particularly known for its paper mills and meatpacking industry. The city experienced significant growth with the arrival of the railroad and the opening of the Green Bay Packers football team in 1919. Today, Green Bay is a vibrant city with a thriving economy, diverse population, and a strong sense of community pride. The city is also a popular tourist destination, known for its waterfront parks, museums, and sports culture. Green Bay continues to evolve while honoring its rich history and heritage.
