Welcome to the Newto News for April of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Green Bay, Wisconsin, located on the shores of Lake Michigan, has a rich history dating back over 400 years. The city was originally inhabited by the Menominee and Ho-Chunk Native American tribes, who were later joined by French fur traders in the 17th century. In 1634, French explorer Jean Nicolet became the first European to set foot in the area. Green Bay grew rapidly in the 19th century with the arrival of German, Belgian, and Scandinavian immigrants, who established thriving industries such as paper mills, shipping, and agriculture. The city became known for its lumber industry and by the late 1800s, it was one of the largest producers of paper in the United States. In 1919, the Green Bay Packers football team was founded, becoming one of the most successful and beloved franchises in NFL history. Today, Green Bay is a vibrant city with a diverse population, thriving economy, and a strong sense of community pride.
