Welcome to the Newto News for May of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fort Worth, Texas has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century. Founded in 1849 as an army outpost on the Trinity River, the city was named after General William Jenkins Worth, a hero of the Mexican-American War. Fort Worth quickly grew in importance as a stop along the Chisholm Trail, where millions of cattle were driven north to market. The city became known as “Cowtown” due to its significant role in the cattle industry. In the late 19th century, Fort Worth experienced a period of rapid growth and prosperity, fueled by the arrival of railroads and the discovery of oil nearby. The city became a hub for cattle ranching, oil production, and manufacturing industries. Fort Worth also became known for its vibrant cultural scene, with the establishment of museums, theaters, and music venues. Today, Fort Worth remains a dynamic city with a diverse economy and a strong sense of history and tradition. It continues to attract visitors with its museums, cultural events, and western heritage.
