Welcome to the Newto News for January of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fayetteville, Arkansas was founded in 1828 when the first settlers arrived in the area. Named after Lafayette, a French hero of the American Revolution, the city quickly became a hub for trade and commerce due to its strategic location on the Butterfield Overland Stage Route. Throughout the 19th century, Fayetteville grew steadily as a center for agriculture, education, and manufacturing. During the Civil War, Fayetteville was occupied by both Union and Confederate forces, and the city suffered significant damage. However, it rebounded quickly after the war and became known for its progressive attitudes and thriving cultural scene. In the 20th century, Fayetteville experienced rapid growth and development, particularly with the establishment of the University of Arkansas in 1871. Today, Fayetteville is a vibrant and diverse city known for its historic downtown, arts and music scene, and natural beauty. It continues to attract residents and visitors alike with its unique blend of small-town charm and modern amenities.
