Welcome to the Newto News for April of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fayetteville, Arkansas was founded in 1828 by Thomas L. Chambers, a respected local farmer who saw the potential for a thriving community in the lush Ozark Mountains. The town quickly grew thanks to its prime location along the historic Trail of Tears, which brought many settlers and traders through the area in the early 19th century. During the Civil War, Fayetteville became a strategic target for both Union and Confederate forces due to its position between the Mississippi River and the Trans-Mississippi region. The town was occupied by both sides at various points, leading to significant destruction and loss of life. In the years following the war, Fayetteville experienced a period of rapid growth and prosperity as the University of Arkansas was established in the town in 1871. The university brought new residents and economic opportunities to Fayetteville, solidifying its position as a cultural and educational hub in the region. Today, Fayetteville is known for its vibrant arts scene, thriving economy, and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for visitors and residents alike.
