Welcome to the Newto News for February of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Fargo, North Dakota was founded in 1871 as a strategic stopping point for steamboats travelling along the Red River. Named after William Fargo, a co-founder of Wells Fargo, the city quickly grew in size and importance due to its prime location on major transportation routes. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Fargo became a hub for agricultural trade, with grain elevators and mills being built to process the region’s abundant wheat and barley crops. Fargo also played a significant role in the development of the Northern Pacific Railway, which further boosted the city’s economy and population. Throughout the 20th century, Fargo continued to thrive as a center for commerce, education, and culture in North Dakota. Today, Fargo is known for its vibrant downtown area, bustling arts scene, and welcoming community. The city has also become a major technology hub, with many tech companies choosing to establish headquarters or offices in the area. Fargo’s rich history and diverse economy make it a dynamic and exciting place to live and visit.
