Welcome to the Newto News for May of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Denver, Colorado was founded in 1858 as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Originally named Montana City, the settlement quickly grew as prospectors and settlers flocked to the area in search of their fortunes. In 1863, the town was officially renamed Denver, after Kansas Territorial Governor James W. Denver. By the late 19th century, Denver had become a thriving hub for trade, agriculture, and transportation. The completion of the Denver Pacific Railroad in 1870 further solidified the city’s importance as a center of commerce in the western United States. In the early 20th century, Denver continued to grow and prosper, becoming known for its progressive and innovative spirit. The city played a key role in the development of the aviation industry, as well as the establishment of the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Denver Art Museum. Today, Denver is a vibrant metropolis known for its outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and booming economy. With a population of over 700,000, Denver is a diverse and dynamic city that continues to attract residents and visitors from around the world.
