Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Originally inhabited by Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes, Denver’s history began in the mid-19th century with the Pikes Peak Gold Rush in 1858. A group of prospectors would establish a mining town near the confluence of the South Platte River and Cherry Creek, which would soon become Denver City in 1859. The city quickly grew as a hub for miners seeking their fortune in the Rocky Mountains. Denver was officially incorporated in 1861 and became the capital of the Colorado Territory in 1867. The completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1870 further solidified Denver’s position as a major center of commerce and industry in the West. Over the years, Denver has continued to thrive, becoming a cultural and economic powerhouse in the region. Today, it is known for its vibrant arts scene, outdoor activities, and booming tech industry. With a population of over 700,000, Denver remains a dynamic and diverse city with a rich history of growth and progress.
