Welcome to the Newto News for June of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Denver, Colorado was founded in 1858 as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Originally named “Denver City” after Kansas territorial governor James W. Denver, the city quickly grew and became a hub for miners seeking their fortune in the Rocky Mountains. In 1867, Denver became the capital of the newly formed Colorado Territory. The completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1870 further boosted Denver’s growth and prosperity, making it a major transportation and trade hub for the region. The city continued to grow throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, attracting a diverse population of settlers and immigrants seeking opportunities in mining, agriculture, and industry. In the late 20th century, Denver underwent a revitalization with the construction of new cultural and recreational facilities, such as the Denver Art Museum and Coors Field. Today, Denver is known for its vibrant arts and culture scene, outdoor recreational opportunities, and booming economy. It remains a thriving metropolis with a rich history rooted in the American West.
