Denver, Colorado was founded in 1858 as a mining town during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Originally named “Denver City” after Kansas territorial governor James W. Denver, the city quickly grew in population as miners flocked to the area in search of fortune. By the late 19th century, Denver had become a major transportation hub due to its strategic location at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The city’s economy diversified with the growth of agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries. In the early 20th century, Denver experienced a boom in population and urban development, becoming known as the “Queen City of the Plains.” The city continued to thrive throughout the decades, attracting waves of immigrants and contributing to its vibrant cultural scene. Today, Denver is a bustling metropolis known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, craft breweries, and thriving arts and music scene. With a rich history rooted in the Wild West, Denver remains a dynamic and diverse city that continues to attract residents and visitors alike.
