Dearborn, Michigan was founded in 1786 by French settlers who established the first permanent settlement in the area. Originally known as Dearbornville, the city was named after General Henry Dearborn, a Revolutionary War hero. Throughout the 19th century, Dearborn grew as an agricultural community with thriving farms and orchards. In the early 20th century, Dearborn became known as the hometown of automotive pioneer Henry Ford. Ford established the Ford Motor Company in the city and built the famous Rouge River Plant, one of the largest industrial complexes in the world at the time. This brought a wave of economic prosperity to Dearborn and attracted a diverse population of workers from around the country. Today, Dearborn is a vibrant and diverse city known for its strong Muslim community, cultural institutions, and industrial heritage. The city continues to grow and evolve, with a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial developments shaping its future. Dearborn remains a place where history, innovation, and cultural diversity converge.
