Dayton, Ohio was founded in 1796 by a group of settlers led by Jonathan Dayton, a Revolutionary War officer and member of the US Senate. The city quickly grew into a hub of innovation and industry, becoming known as the “Birthplace of Aviation” due to the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, who conducted their first successful powered flight at Huffman Prairie in 1904.
