Welcome to the Newto News for February of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Dallas, Texas was founded in 1841 by John Neely Bryan, a lawyer and trader. The city quickly became a major hub for the cotton and oil industries, attracting settlers from all over the United States. In the late 19th century, Dallas experienced rapid growth and development, establishing itself as an important center for finance and commerce in the region. In 1963, Dallas was forever marked by tragedy when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in a motorcade through the city. Despite this dark moment in its history, Dallas continued to prosper and grow, becoming known for its thriving arts and culture scene, world-class dining, and renowned sports teams. Today, Dallas is one of the largest and most diverse cities in the United States, with a population of over 1.3 million residents. It continues to attract visitors and new residents with its vibrant economy, lively entertainment options, and rich cultural heritage.
