Welcome to the Newto News for April of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Bozeman, Montana was founded in 1864 by John Bozeman, a pioneer and trapper who established the Bozeman Trail as a shortcut to the goldfields of Virginia City. The city quickly grew as a hub for travelers and traders during the Montana Gold Rush in the late 19th century. Bozeman became known for its strong agricultural and ranching industries, with fertile land and a favorable climate for farming. The arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the 1880s further fueled the city’s growth and development. In the early 20th century, Bozeman became a center for education with the founding of Montana State College (now Montana State University) in 1893. Today, Bozeman is a vibrant city known for its outdoor recreational opportunities, including skiing, hiking, and fly fishing. It has also become a popular destination for tech companies and startups, earning it the nickname “Silicon Mountain.” Bozeman’s rich history and natural beauty continue to attract visitors and new residents alike.
