Welcome to the Newto News for August of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Boise, Idaho, was founded in the early 1800s as a result of the Oregon Trail migration. Originally a small farming community, Boise experienced rapid growth in the mid-19th century due to the discovery of gold in the nearby Boise Basin. This led to an influx of settlers and the establishment of businesses and infrastructure in the city. In the late 1800s, Boise became the capital of the newly formed state of Idaho, further solidifying its importance in the region. The city continued to grow and thrive throughout the 20th century, becoming a hub for agriculture, industry, and government. Today, Boise is known for its vibrant culture, outdoor recreation opportunities, and thriving economy. The city has a diverse population and is home to several universities, museums, and cultural attractions. Boise has consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States, attracting residents and visitors from around the country.
