Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Biloxi, Mississippi has a rich history that dates back to the early 18th century when it was founded by French explorers. Originally inhabited by the Biloxi tribe of Native Americans, the city was later settled by French colonists who established a thriving fishing and seafood industry. The city played a significant role in the Civil War as a major Confederate stronghold, and was later occupied by Union forces. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Biloxi became known for its bustling seafood industry and as a popular tourist destination. The city attracted visitors from across the country who were drawn to its beautiful beaches and vibrant cultural scene. Biloxi also became known for its lively casinos and entertainment venues, which continue to attract tourists to this day. Despite facing challenges such as hurricanes and economic downturns, Biloxi has remained a resilient and vibrant city with a strong sense of community and history. Today, it continues to be a popular destination for tourists and a beloved home for its residents.
